Sculpture by the Sea, Perth 2013

Slowness Shifting V, 2013, Hand Torn Masking Tape, 15m x 1m, Perth Australia.

In March I travelled to Cottesloe, Perth, West Australia. 70 Australian and International artists were chosen from 220 proposals to exhibit at Sculpture by the Sea Cottesloe.

For this installation I returned to the lime green tape I used at Waitakaruru Sculpture Park. This particular tape has a very heavy duty adhesive which sticks to rocks and concrete. It's properties were well-tested on site when a freak wave (helped by the Freemantle Doctor wind) completely doused me and my installation while installing.
I had to wait a full day for the rocks to dry out to enable re application of the tape pieces.

If the surface is dry on application the tape webbing can withstand a multitude of conditions, demonstrated at Waitakaruru where it coped with rain, frost and winter storms for four months.
